Our History
In the Beginning
As a certified
energy auditor and Member of the Mayor’s Energy Task Force, Spence
Faxon saved clients money through his own proven systematic approach
to energy conservation. By evaluating the equipment of a building -
like its boilers - and looking for less expensive energy sources to
get the best rates, clients like Hilcrest Gardens saved $142,420 in
natural gas costs in 1983 alone. In 1989 Energy Alliances became the
regional agent for Consolidated Fuel Corporation of Houston, Texas.
The 90's
As pipeline
companies like Peoples Gas Light & Coke Co. in Chicago and
Cincinnati Gas & Electric are forced to open their gas transmission
lines for business customers, Energy Alliances began supplying
natural gas on both systems and was the largest on the CG&E system
and established itself as the leader in the Firm Transport (FT)
program that guarantees gas deliveries 24/7. After the Federal
Energy Regulatory Commission passed an order requiring the
unbundling of pipeline sales, Energy Alliances offered an array of
new services to benefit the end user and moved to larger offices in
Sycamore Township to better serve its customers. CG&E enlisted
Spence as a teacher of seminars on utility rates and through its
Non-Profit Energy Management Program (NEMP) enlisted Energy
Alliances to perform energy audits throughout the area.
Today
Energy Alliances has
positioned itself as a leader in the energy consulting field and
remains one of the largest independent natural gas suppliers
(through Integrys Energy Services, Inc.) on the Duke Energy system
in Southern Ohio. Energy Alliances now provides electric generation
service to businesses throughout the area as well.
Energy Alliances
currently serves entire communities in Northern Ohio and more communities
throughout
the greater Cincinnati area on natural gas aggregation than anyone
else. Residents of
Green Township who enrolled in their community natural gas
aggregation saved more than $1 million in energy costs in the first
year of their program. Energy Alliances assists communities in
passing
Aggregation, giving them authority to begin the certification
process on the Duke system.
